Web-Based Training Program
Launched
|
Between
June and November 20, Cayen Systems trainers traveled to over 75 clients
across the nation for SES or After School training.
While training on-site has its advantages, Cayen Systems knows that sometimes on-site training is not possible. This may be because of unexpected staff turnover or limited funding for travel expenses of the trainer. Or your organization may have the need for a brief refresher or training on a specific component and not need a full training.
For these
reasons, Cayen Systems is pleased to offer a curriculum of web-based trainings
on both APlus and SES. Web-based trainings can be viewed from your office or home and result in a great deal of convenience for you and your staff. Click here for a current calendar of trainings. A complete listing of trainings with more
details can be found here.
More
offerings will be available in the coming months. Since the goal of the web-based trainings is to meet your needs, suggestions for additional training topics are appreciated. Please note that if a current
offering doesn't meet your needs, we would also be pleased to develop a customized training for your organization. Contact Steve
at Cayen Systems for more information. |

SES Conference in 2009?
|
A survey for SST and SSTPro customers...
There is
currently no national gathering around the topic of SES for all stakeholders
including state administrators, SES districts form school districts, providers
and evaluators. Partnering with the American
Society for Quality, uBoost
and others, Cayen Systems is exploring hosting a conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
in late June of 2009. The conference would not just be for those that use Cayen
Systems' SST and SSTPro products.
Read
more and take a quick survey herePossible conference topics that have been suggested: - SES 101 for Districts - How to manage all aspects of a quality SES program
- SES 101 for Providers - How to provide quality tutoring services and other basics like where to find tutors. How much to pay tutors as well as run background checks. How to develop contracts with tutors, etc. What makes a quality tutor? How to develop a top-quality student learning plan
- Forum for Districts, Providers and State Departments of Education SES staff to discuss quality programs
- Forum for Evaluators to discuss quality evaluation efforts and the importance of quality data
- Possibly a forum for Districts, Providers, States and Evaluators to talk together
- How well-managed reward and recognition programs can assist in raising participation and academic success
- A track for Cayen Systems SES management software users including user's group meeting
- Possible USED presentation providing an update on the new SES guidance
- Effective and quality state DOE review systems for providers.
- Topics for parent advocacy groups.
We
understand in some areas, funds for travel and conferences are being cut back. Is this your experience?
Your
feedback on this and other issues would really be appreciated as we consider
whether or not to hold this conference at this time. Click here to take our survey

| Cayen Systems' Staff Profile: Lynn Russo |
Lynn has been with Cayen
Systems since July of 2007. Lynn
is the Support Team Manager and supervises four Support Associates and three
Tier II Support Specialists. Her job is to ensure excellent customer support
for all Cayen Systems' clients.
Lynn has been married to Dan for the past
34 years and has two children, one currently stationed in the Middle East and
one living in Milwaukee.
Lynn is a native of Wisconsin. When she is not working, Lynn enjoys working on
crafts such as quilting, stained glass, crochet and is an avid reader. She is
very active with her church and also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.
Why do you think your job is
challenging or gratifying? "I love my job. I love the clients we
work with and the challenge of finding ways to improve the support process that
is currently used. It is very gratifying to have a client say that we provide
the best service."
Most fun experience at Cayen Systems: "Attending a
conference in Columbus, Ohio provided me the ability to place a face
with a name and provide the clients the ability to tell me what they liked or
did not like in terms of our support. This time spent with clients helped me
gain a new level of confidence that our clients know we care about what they
say and are committed to assisting them."
Why you like to work at Cayen Systems: "There are many
reasons why Cayen Systems is a great place to work. I feel confident that we
are all working together to get a resolution for our client as quickly as
possible. We do not have the attitude that the task at hand is another
department's responsibility - it is all of our responsibility to make the
client happy."

| What Works Best |
This regular newsletter features will focus on one or two tools
that can help you be a better user of your Cayen Systems' product.
- Go GREEN! Attention after school program/site managers and SES District and SES Provider staff! If you would like to remove most of the paper from your attendance-taking procedures, consider CORE-FS as an add-on to your APlus or SST system. Using students' fingerscans, attendance can be instantly recorded without being dependent on messy, hard to read sig-in sheets.
For after school attendance-taking, one scan at the first activity of the day is all that is needed. Click here to see the details.
For SES tracking of service hours, student's tutoring start and end time is easily recorded, saving time in gathering student and/or parent signatures and making District invoice review a breeze! Click here to see the details.
For users of our CORE and day school administration system, CORE-FS will be available for these products in 2009.
- For users of APlus, our after school data management system, it is our continual hope that our system will be used for more than just compliance with funder's reporting requirements. At a recent meeting of all 21st Century Community Learning Centers in New Mexico, Cayen Systems owner Joe Cayen made a presentation about using data to those gathered. We have taken his presentation and made it into a "movie" for you to view. Click here to view the movie. Your comments are always welcome as we strive to continually provide the best ideas and information for our users!
